How to create a movie in PIcasa, upload it to youtube and embed it on a WordPress page or post.
See Video Example Below and See Screencast Tutorial Below
It is easy to create the movie below and upload it to Youtube by using Picasa. Youtube is part of your Social Media marketing and it’s one of the top ways to get traffic sent to your site. At youtube the embed code was copied and then pasted into a post box on WordPress, using the html editor instead of the usual Visual editor.
Picasa photo and video edting software is free from Google. You can create a video from photos, add titles, and add music. PIcasa has a one click video upload to youtube.
Steps:
1. Select Photos
Click on the photos one at a time that you want to use. After each photo click the green “hold in photo tray” button near the bottom of the screen. The photos will show up in the lower left of the screen.
2. Click Create, Movie, From Selection in Menu
When you are done selecting photos click on Create in the menu at the top of the screen. In the drop down menu choose Movie. In the popout menu choose From Selection.
3. Choose Settings for Slide Transitions, Screen Size
Another screen will open up with your photos showing in a row at the bottom and a viewing screen above. Choose the slide transition style. Dissolve is popular. Choose the dimensions. Youtube screen size and shape keeps changing so you might want to type a question into your search box and check the most recent answers. 1024 x 768 was used for the example at the bottom of this post. Choose the slide duration. Sometimes it is set at 4 seconds per slide but that can seem slow and people get impatient unless the photo is unusually interesting.
4. Add Title Text as an Overlay to a Photo and Format the Color, Font, Size
To add a title to the first photo click on it to select it. Click on the tab on the upper left that says Slide. A box will open with text formatting choices for color, font, size and a text box to type in the title or caption.
5. Click Back to the Movie Tab, Add Music by Using the Upload If You Wish
When you are done adding the text or title click the movie tab. If you want to add music you can upload it from your computer by using the upload button on the left. You can also add music right from the youtube channel by clicking Edit under your video in your channel. Youtube will show a box where you can choose to preview types of music and songs.
6. Upload to Youtube by Clicking Button
Click the Youtube button to upload. You will be asked to type a title, description and tags into boxes. You will need to have already opened an account and registered at youtube. It’s free.
7. Watch Your Video on Youtube
A box will open from youtube after the video is done uploading and processing that will tell you the video can now be viewed by clicking on the link they show in the message.
8. Embed the Youtube Movie on a Page or Post
Below the video on Youtube click the button that says Share. Below that a box will open up with highlighted code but that is the link code not the embed code. Next to it a box will have opened up that says Embed. Click that and the embed code will open. Below the embed code click to choose not to show other related videos after your video finishes playing. You cannot predict the quality or relevance of the videos plus you don’t want to lose your visitor’s attention. Copy the embed code, go to your WordPress dashboard, open the page or post and click the HTML tab. Then paste the code. Click Publish. Of course you also want to write an article to go with it, choose Categories for it, and add Tags. Search engines can’t watch videos so you need to have some text for the search engine. Readers can refer to the text as well as watch the video.
